Pre-school (ages 3 – JK5)
It is our heart’s desire with TMCC’s Pre-School program to both lovingly care for and Biblically minister to the children God brings to our church! And we also love to care for and support the parents and even our leaders, as well. Of course on Sunday mornings we play with children and encourage them, but we also nurture them, teach them, pray for them and even sing with them from time to time, too, as we do our part to help serve in God’s overall Kingdom.
TMCC also recognizes that attending our Pre-school program may very well be some children’s first experience with an Almighty loving God…seen, felt, taught, and modeled through the patient and loving hands we provide. And we take this opportunity and calling very seriously! For nothing is more important than starting kids off with a consistent sharing of just how much God loves them. It truly sets the best possible tone for a lifetime of Faith.
And having a Pre-school ministry that regularly teaches, shares, and mentors God’s precious little children towards such a Faith, is an honour and a joy! Throughout all our children’s and youth ministries, we maintain that parents are always to be the primary model for young children to initially begin to see how amazing the unconditional love of our Heavenly Father is – but when you add in the encouragement and support of a caring church family, as well…there’s no better way to “train up a child in the way they should go.” (Proverbs 22:6)
Elementary (ages SK – Grade 5)
Encouraging, equipping, and partnering with parents to be the primary Spiritual Leaders of their homes is really the ultimate goal of our K – 5th grade “ARK” Children’s Ministry. Now, of course week in and week out, our Children’s leaders and volunteers provide exciting and challenging lessons for the kids with the Godly calling of reaching them for Jesus Christ…but at TMCC, we take very seriously the Biblical role of the parent(s) being the Spiritual leaders in the home. And we get this from Deuteronomy 6:5-9, where it says: 5 “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
Now, to be sure – we still take our role in teaching kids about their need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ very seriously. We understand and believe this is a high calling and do enjoy it very much. But we believe by involving and partnering with parent’s, as well…while modeling and teaching relevant Biblical material in a lively and exciting way, we not only better reach “our” kids for Christ, but actually inspire the entire family to grow in their personal walk with Jesus, too!
Volunteers in our children’s ministry are committed Christians from TMCC, love working with kids, and they all have had background checks completed, as well. All in all, though…we hope and pray that our goals are the same as the parent’s goals – to lead their kids into a closer and more personal relationship with Jesus…God’s one and only Son, who came to earth to be the Savior of the World. Ours and theirs!
And by partnering together…committed parents with a committed church…that’s the greatest recipe possible for raising up the next generation of Christ followers and community leaders!
Youth (up to 18yrs)
In TMCC’s youth ministry…we tend to take a unique leadership approach. We absolutely love training up new young leaders to not only serve in the local church – but to also experience what it means to be the “hands and feet” of Christ in actually serving others in the local community, as well. Now, do we meet together and do Bible-centered lessons to help encourage kids towards having their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Yes, of course we do…right along with regular fun and encouraging activities to help build healthy friendships with other youth, too.
However, in addition to all that – we also feel if we find ways to help youth discover and “plug-in” to local church ministry using their gifts – this wonderfully helps them see how their Faith is still very relevant and a real blessing to others. And because we regularly encourage them use and apply their skills and gifts, this also helps these young adults continue to trust in Jesus and stay strong in their Faith journey with him even after they grow up and leave home!
At The Message Christian Church…our simple mission statement is we strive to be a “Family-Friendly…Family-Focused Church that loves God and loves people.” Orangeville, Ontario, is a wonderfully family-oriented community and a great place to raise kids. That’s why our Children’s Ministry is really so focused on Family Ministry – because we’re all in this together in trying to raise up a Godly ‘next’ generation. So the more we can do as a church family to help encourage and equip the parent(s), the better it is for the kids of Orangeville!
But we also understand that not everyone has kids – and that’s ok. Families come in all shapes and sizes. For as God’s originally created children in the first place…we really are all family, anyways. Unfortunately, though…many in our culture don’t feel like they have such a family.
And for various reasons, they feel alone and without the kind of love that God truly wants everyone to enjoy. So we believe the church needs to help with this. Whether it’s through Children’s ministry, Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Prayer Ministry, Outreach ministry, etc. – there’s a place for everyone to fit in at TMCC, and be a part of and serve in the local church family!
You see…not only is the church a representation of the Body of Christ – the church is also supposed to represent a united family that is loving and welcoming and inviting to all to become part of the greater family of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. And we truly become members of God’s family when we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, and are baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).
So whether you have 10 kids or 0 kids…grandkids or adopted kids, in Christ we are all members of an amazing family. And why our goal is to always be a Family-Friendly…Family-Focused Church that loves God and loves people!
Adult Ministries (Men’s and Women’s)
All people need to be growing in their relationship with God – adults included! And just because we “grow up,” doesn’t mean we have this life all figured out. Although not as regular as Sunday school programming and activities for kids and youth, TMCC also has specific events and gatherings and times of prayer and fellowship for men and women, too.
Whether it’s in the form or our Men’s Prayer Partner ministry (that has breakfast together a few times a year), and regularly prays over the church and the local community…to our caring women’s ministry that also gets together throughout the year to fellowship and pray for one another and build each other up in Christ.
Either way…both men and women, married or single – have a place to gather and be refreshed by loving friends who truly care for them and take very seriously the importance of prayer and fellowship as we all continue to grow in our journey of Faith.
